Your jewelry should shine as bright as you do...

Luckily, our gold-filled jewelry is tarnish resistant. And so, if you follow our top tips listed below, your jewelry will last.

Top Tips For Jewelry Care

  • Avoid Exposure to Harsh Chemicals/ Excess Oils

Think Lotions, Perfumes, Hand Sanitizers, anything with chemicals or thick/greasy oils can cause your jewelry to dull or darken overtime. Best to avoid direct contact between the chemicals and the jewelry.

  • Store in a Dry, Low-Moisture Environment

To preserve the longevity of your favorite HOC pieces, be sure to store them in a dry, and cool place like a jewelry box or our suede HOC pouches that come with every order.

  • A Rinse Will Make Them Brand New

If your jewelry is looking dull, it's likely due to a build up of grime (aka sweat or oils). So to revitalize your jewelry, we recommend giving your jewelry a bath. Instructions shared in the FAQ.

What's the difference between gold plated and gold filled jewelry?

Gold-filled jewelry has 100x more gold alloy than gold plated and because that layer is so much thicker, it means gold-filled jewelry lasts longer and stands up to wear and tear better than gold plated. Some other great news is that gold-filled jewelry is safe for sensitive skin, hypoallergenic, and tarnish resistant. It is also has one of the closest appearances to solid gold, but for a fraction of the cost.

Can I/ should I wash my jewelry?

Yes. We recommend soaking your jewelry in warm water with a few drops of a gentle/mild soap. After a minute or so, dry it off and pat dry with a soft cloth.

Is it okay to leave my jewelry out when not wearing it?

That is totally fine, but...to ensure the longevity of the piece, we recommend storing it in a cool, and low-humidity environment.

Will my jewelry tarnish?

While gold filled jewelry can last a VERY long time and doesn't tarnish easily, overtime the color may darken based on a few different factors such as:

Exposure to harsh chemicals (like alcohols often found in hand sanitizers, perfumes, chlorine etc.

Exposure to humidity and sweat- oils on the skin can build up on the pieces causing them to appear "dull".

Build up from products- like lotions, self-tanners, sunscreen can also build up and cause a dull appearance.

But if you avoid these things as much as possible, and clean your jewelry every now and again, your jewelry should last you a long time.

Can I wear my jewelry in the shower?

Yes! Gold-filled jewelry is tarnish resistant, so you can defintely wear it in the shower. We do just strongly recommend that you dry your jewelry off with a soft towel or cloth afterwards to prevent moisture from building up.

Where is the best place to store my jewelry?

Anywhere that is dry and cool. We recommend using the suede pouches that your jewelry is sent in, but a jewelry box or airtight container is a great option too.
